Furl saves a copy of web pages in the user's archive, which can be retrieved later. That counteracts link-rot and other difficulties, distinguishing furl from many other folksonomies and social bookmarking sites.

As you suggested, blinklist offers the ability to mark specific bookmarks private and also greatly improves the UI. However, as you correctly point out, it remains to be seen if the current state of blinklist substancially improves the social bookmarking experience over and above del.icio.us.

I would be the first to admit that in it's current state it dramatically improves the personal bookmarking aspect (saving of links for personal use) but not (yet) the social bookmarking aspect.
