What I want in an RSS Reader
by Paul Flyer
- I want a desktop client
- Easier to navigate once pages are downloaded. No waiting for
a new web page to display. Speed is a issue with a lot of RSS
Readers, even if the user has a high speed connection. - Great organizational capabilities. The use of tags, like
Rojo, is far more flexible than the use of folders. - Preferably built into my email client (Thunderbird I am
waiting for you to do something major in this area) - I want it integrated with an online aggregator
- I want the ability to check and read posts via the web from
anywhere - I want this to synch up with my main reader at home
- I do not want something based on .NET
- I realize of course downloading the .NET framework is similar
to having to download Java. However, it is simply because it is a
Microsoft technology - I want it to be free/budget priced.
- Is not $20/yr for the new NewsGator/FeedDemon combo budget
priced? Im frugal, make it $10 and its a deal. However, the
NetNewsWire/Bloglines combo is a $25 one time purchase. I much
prefer that, cept I would have to dish out $1500 for a Mac. Now
that I think about it, I pay more than $20/year just to receive
the weekend newspapers. Maybe I should cancel my subscription to
the newspaper and get NewsGator. - Must have a support community.
- NewsMonster was a cool RSS Reader/Aggregator for Mozzila
based browsers. However, the last news on the site is almost two
years old. Is it currently being supported by anybody?? - I want to be able to save a clip for future reference
