Pluck Web Edition Review
Pluck offers both an online version and an integrated browser version of their RSS Reader. Unfortunately, the integrated version is only for Internet Explorer. Seeing that I tend to use Firefox the majority of the time, I will save the IE portion of the review for someone else. This review then, will focus solely on the Pluck Web Edition.
In two words: basic barebones.
Pluck Web Edition can be classified as “Journal, Headline and Summary, Online” RSS Reader.
There is a basic search for feeds, which is quite fast. Organizational, feeds can be added to folders. A feed can be added, deleted, moved or sent.
It is just your basic RSS Reader. There isn’t much more to say.
It does not allow one to group multiple feeds to be viewed as one feed. It uses folders instead of tags to organize, which is not optimal. There is no way to clip articles for future reference.
There are three positives to Pluck Web Edition:
1) Being very simple, it is ideal for beginners. If you are new to RSS Reading, Pluck Web Edition will help get your feet wet.
2) Speed. Pluck is fast. Feeds are found quickly and feeds are returned quickly. That only is impressive for an online RSS Reader. I hate having to wait while an online RSS service waits and waits and waits in order to update feeds.
3) Clean look and feel. Easy readability. I prefer Pluck’s look over Bloglines. It just has a much more modern and clean feel to it, though it is very simple and basic.
