Strucutural SEO is the process by which various elements on an individual web page are structured so that the web page can be found by the search engines for specific keyword(s) or keyword phrases.

Strucutural SEO will not guarantee any top rating within a search engine, only offpage optimization can offer that guarantee. However, offpage optimization is far more effective WHEN onpage optimization is in place.

Onpage optimization techniques are not difficult. It does however take time to make sure all the pieces are in place. This kind of optimization should occur not only on the main web page of a web site, but on every single content page within that site.

When thinking about the structure of a web page, you need to have a check list of items to incorporate plus you need a ways to test your web pages to ensure those elements were placed correctly.

  2. How to SEO Your Site in 60 Minutes: Ebook by Matt McGee.  Ok, this one will cost you $25.  BUT it is a very good introduction to structural SEO elements.  He provides a very handy checklist as well that you can use to assess your web pages.
  3. Factors For SEO Success: Nice graphic depicting the general ingredients that will make a website successful.  You will notice words here not often used in some circles: Trust and Reputation.
  4. See Your Website Like A Search Engine Sees It: A different kind of browser.  Displays your website like a search engine might see it.  Great for assessing general text layout of your pages.
  5. SEO Checklist for Small Business: Great quick and dirty working list for assessing your web pages.
  6. Keyword Check and Analysis: Check whether your keywords are prominent on your page and verify your position in the SERPs.
  7. SEO Site Checkup: Ultimate tool for assessing all kinds of onpage factors.
  8. These videos on Finding Keywords,  High Traffic Keywords,  Assessing Competition, Keyword Commercial Viability are very helpful to beginners.  Basic and easy.  While they are meant to demonstrate this particular SEO tool, I am not so much advocating the tool here as the basic instruction in concepts.  I do not have an affiliate relationship with any SEO tool and never will.
  9. Onpage Structure Check using Google Docs:  Very clever and very free way to check core structural elements of your websites.
